Design & Display
If you have witnessed predecessors in the HP Spectre x360 lineup, the latest 16-inch convertible might upset you slightly. They consisted of two-tone designs and gem-cut edges and a perfect combination of Nightfall Black and copper tones. Additionally, they had sharp edges, but the 16-inch convertible replaces the sharp edges with curves.
No doubt, HP tried toning down some things and had to compromise the style. However, the biggest surprise was the innovation of a 16-inch laptop in the industry of convertible laptops. This HP masterpiece doesn’t support Dolby Vision and HDR, or a refresh rate of 120-Hz, like Dell’s XPS range or Microsoft Surface Laptop studio. But, you will find this notebook handy and easily flippable, especially when you are using it single-handedly.
Performance
The processor is from Intel Core i7-11390H that comes with a 35-watt, fore-core/ eight-thread architecture. However, HP Spectre x360 16 couldn’t become a proud lineup with the Intel 12th-gen upgrade.
On the other hand, you can either go for the Integrated Iris Xe graphics or settle for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050. The GPU from the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 will cost you more money. However, this is an entry-level graphics processing unit.
HP claimed that the HP Spectre x360 16 is the perfect machine for creators. But, the graphics quality is not as standard as we expected. We think that it is an underperformer compared to its predecessors in the same lineup.
Yet, editing videos and photos didn’t give us any difficulty. Therefore, we can say that everything is good with respect to the performance of HP Spectre x360 16.
The next thing that you can’t underestimate is the battery life. Since HP Spectre x360 16 is not a mobile workstation or a gaming PC, you can expect better battery life. With continuous editing, browsing, and applications such as OneNote, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc., the laptop can survive for up to 5 hours. However, we kept the OLED display active while working, and the output really impressed us.
If you want to save on battery life, you should go for the 3K option for the display. Additionally, you can turn on the Windows power slider to make your laptop battery last longer. In other words, we think that HP Spectre x360 16 is a perfect choice for creators.
Additional Watch-Outs
HP Spectre x360 16 will be a tough security partner with the walkaway lock. Whenever the user steps away from the notebook, it will lock itself and enter sleep mode. On the other hand, the notebook will wake up when the user steps in. The 5MP built-in webcam enables these security features on the notebook.
In addition to this, there is an Attention Tracking feature. The feature dims down the screen when the user looks away from the screen. If anybody attempts to look at the screen over your shoulder, then it blurs the display. That’s not the end – HP Spectre x360 16 can tell you and warn you when your face is too close to the screen.
There are more features such as GlamCam to smoothen our face, remove blemishes, and reduce wrinkles. The Auto Frame helps in keeping you in the center of the video. And, the Lighting Correction feature can give you the right image according to the circumstances.
Is HP Spectre x360 16 Right for you?
This phenomenal laptop is a must-buy for creators who are craving a big convertible and some style specs. Additionally, they must be ready to carry some extra pounds due to that large screen. Overall, it comes with a comfy keyboard and an easy-to-surf touchpad.
However, we think that this notebook will be a little challenging for those looking for productivity at its best and something lightweight. Otherwise, HP Spectre x360 16 is a delightful addition for artists and creators.
